I have concerns about the perfect-a-reeds. Wont it crush the reed?

Reading Ben Armato's publication, "Perfect A Reed...and Beyond", is also highly recommended as a source for reed information and (often unconventional) reed adjustment technique. A good read (pun intended :>)

The Perfect-a-reed is applied very gently. I have seen Ben Armato demonstrate it. However, to me, it always seemed kind of expensive for what it does.
