Can someone suggest a barrel that would would well with a "jazz mouthpiece" such as a 5JB or the B45 Lyre. Would the Eddie Daniels barrel be a good choice? Any other suggestions?

I'd use the Buffet barrel or a Chadash. But, it is really up to you. Buy all three and see which one sounds the most jazzy.

Do you really think that changeing barrels will help you play jazz? Most jazz players use what comes with the instrument. I see some use of the DEG accubore which can increase volume for outdoor playing but does not improve the tone as such.

Use the barrel that lets you play "in tune". Generally most jazz players use a very "open" mouthpiece with soft reeds.

the deg does increase projection and tunes fine for me .i recommend it for a jazz setting where louder sound is needed

I have to agree with Dan. I've had great success with Eddie Daniels Deg barrels. I recommend the power barrel. Go to Woodwind and Brasswind's website and look up clarinet tuning barrels. (www.wwandbw.com). Or, you could call International Musical Suppliers (800-762-1116) and ask them if they have any in stock.
