I'm back and will be using my same old name in future postings, I'm just curious as to how many of you, besides Mark C. might know me.
Well, enough of that.
Even though I haven't been posting, I've been reading posts regularly and see that things are still going well here. Many of the old inmates are still with the BB, and some new ones have popped up.
That was an excellent post, the one asking those who never post to acknowledge their presence. Good idea, and apparently somewhat fruitful, as well.
GBK still knows all and can tell all. How the heck you retain all that, I'll never know!
Dee and Brenda with their typically logical and insightful advise. Gordon, Aussie Nick, etc. Missed Emms.

I like the new name, woodwinds.org.
Mark, since the new name is "Woodwinds," how about a couple of separate forums (like the Klezmorim) for saxophone and flute? Some of us are switch hitters and it may not be a bad thing. I know it will be more work for you, but perhaps, also a wider sponsorship base!
Yeah, well, once a proctologic discomfort, always a proctologic discomfort. (Although some of you will undoubtedly remember me in somewhat more graphic, but unprintable terms.)
I've been busily working away from home and too tired to post, though not too tired to read, sometimes.
Hey Arney, you Irishman, you! I didn't see any new holiday tankas (or was that tankards?) from you this year, you aren't getting old and tired on me are you?
Well, I have a lot of work ahead of me now, because I haven't been playing very much, but I intend to remedy that soon.
Well, I haven't said much of clarinet value this time around, but I will in my next post.
In the meantime, if anyone knows where I can acquire a decent piano mouthpiece, cello reeds, or a slide whistle neck strap, please let me know. I'm not sure they make them any more. They may have to be special order items.

It's been too long. I went down south to built some RF communications facilities and spent a lot of time out in the bush. Every time I got a day off (which weren't many because they were trying to complete the facilities in record time) I slept and slept and slept!
But it's good to be back on board.
Maybe I'll be mellowed out now...naw!
Happy new year to you and yours. Hope we all get rich and healthier so we can all buy the most expensive clarinets and enjoy playing them!

I knew Peter's return was imminent, as he previously had written to me. It was difficult keeping his upcoming reappearance a secret, and I am glad he is finally back with us.
For those of you who thought the bulletin board was interesting before, just watch what happens now.

Well, hello Mark,
Large, with jazz vent holes on the side.
You know, while I was away I tried to learn the bass fiddle, but every time I tucked it under my chin, I couldn't reach the neck with my left hand.
Do you think that had anything to do with using the wrong mouthpiece for the instrument?

Well, well--welcome back! Thank God for those with quick brains and wry attitudes.
I've been a bit in and out this past year as well. This time last year I had 4 old people to care for. Since that time two have passed on and two have recovered enough to care for themselves. I'm back to playing and focusing on my instrument again.
Keep up the wit.

My condolences, I'm sorry that happened.
Gee, when it rains it pours, doesn't it? My aunt, 77 years old, and my uncle, 88 years old, both decided to have heart attacks a day apart from each other about a week before Christmas this year, as well.
They are pretty much O.K. now, at least on the road to recovery, but I know what we went through and for sure I won't envy you the extra two you had on your hands, God rest them and hold them in His mercy.

Thanks Peter. I appreciate your encouragement. It was really, really tough for a while. It wasn't just taking care of the people, but Jerry's mom (who expired Dec. 27, 2001) left us with a ranch in South Central Texas with a large flock of Barbado sheep and 3 houses full of old lady junk. PLUS, she was the sole caretaker for her elderly older sister--so, that left us taking care of the sister. What we have left are my parents--my dad had knee replacement and my mother is confined to a wheel chair and has rheumatoid arthritis in an extreme degree. So, getting my dad back up and around was also a priority last year.
I didn't mention my husband's bookkeeper had a heart attack and died right before his mom. And, his business partner's wife died of complications after surgery also right before his mom. This left us in a very tight squeeze. It was during that time I used some of the inheritance for a new Corvette.
Life is much better now--we have 2 lovely granddaughters. Kate was born May 9, 2002--so life goes on. At least I have time to practice my clarinet.

Yep, every dark cloud has a silver lining, even if sometimes it's difficult to see it when you are up to your butt in alligators.
(How does that go? It used to be an old Army Corps of Engineers saying..."It's difficult to remember that your original objective was to drain the swamp when you are up to your a-- in alligators?")
Anyway, it's good to hear you kept your sanity and your sense of humor sfter all that!
It's so good to be back and in touch with you all again!
