I was given a buffet b10 clarinet for xmas and been having a bit of trouble! When i play it seems like there is air leaking from it, making a hissing sound over the notes. i have Tried adjusting the reed and even swaping it. Can any one help please? Also when playing some notes there is a horrible 'spit' sound, tried drying it and reputting it together but it happens again after playing a short time. ARGGHHH, its driving me mad. please help......

Is the hissing and leaking coming from the corners of your mouth? Is the spit sound coming from the reed, like you're gurgling?
If so, it's just a weak embouchure. It gets better with time. Keep practicing.

Sometimes, as instruments are breaking in, they sound airy through the break-in process. I mean now the clarinet sounds airy, but as you become more accustomed to it, it will sound fuller. Just relax and have fun.
Happy New Year.

You could also try a softer reed until your embouchure has improved.
If the problem persists, I would ask a more experienced player to try the instrument to see if there is something wrong with it.
Good luck,
Hans
