I have an older wood Buffet Crampon clarinet. It does not have a model written on it, but I do have the serial number. Does anyone know how I can find out what model it is and if it is worth anything? Please let me know if you can help. Thanks

Sounds like an R13 to me, but I could be wrong. Try going to buffet's website(www.boosey.com) to the serial number search(under tips & more).

There are serial numbers located on this website also. Us the "Jump to" window above and select "Serial Numbers".

First find the year of manufacture from the serial number. The R-13 started sometime in the mid 1950s or so. Thus if it is newer than that, it is an R-13. If it is older, it is an earlier pro model. If the serial number gives you some time in the mid 1950s, it will be impossible to tell as there is no record of the exact year and serial number that started the R-13 production.

After 1955, R13. If before: Buffet Crampon.

Buffet Crampon is the maker both before and after 1955. It is not a model name. Also the exact introduction date of the R-13 is not know even by Buffet.
