I am now reading the Yehudi Menuhin Music Guide to the Flute, by James Galway. In one of the chapters, he explains why he likes to transpose music written for other instruments and play it on the flute. Among the pieces he mentiones is the Mozart Clarinet Concerto!
Does anyone know if he may have recorded this at some point?

Ben -
James Galway recorded K. 622 (transposed up a step into G) with the London Symphony under Eduardo Mata. I have it on an LP, RCA ARL1-3353, and presumably it has been reissued on CD. I haven't listened to it for several years, but as I recall it worked pretty well, at least with Galway playing. Still, it won't replace the clarinet version, and I doubt that Galway performs it in public. As a comparison, I don't think it works quite as well as Stoltzman's recording of the Mozart Bassoon Concerto on clarinet, and about as well as Michael Collins's recording of the Beethoven Violin Concerto.
Best regards.

Ok, Ken,
I hope you just made a minor typo...I assume it was transposed down a step?
It's nice to be able to catch you sometimes! You're one of the most knowledgeable folks posting here!
With all my respect,

Oh, I just realized...(silly me!)...that it could have been transposed up a seventh???
Is that what it is?
Gosh, am I "out of it" today!

No - I had an episode of brainlock. Too much eggnog. Thanks for the correction.
Best regards.
