 Greenline Festival Experiences?
Author: Brett
Date:   2002-12-28 03:30

I recently purchased a Buffet Greenline Festival model clarinet and I'm just curious to get feedback from the clarinet community as to what they think of this instrument and any good or bad experiences they've had. I know what I think about it an I realize all instruments are different, but I'm simply curious as to what other people think of them and how they play. Thanks.

I don't own one but I've heard lots of good reports from others. I'm curious to know what You think of yours, Brett.

Ron B

To be honest, I'm quite pleased with mine. I tried it out against a number of other models including some other Buffets. The tone almost seemed darker and rounder with this instrument than the standard R13s and even the Prestige model I tried it against. Being a Greenline, it seemed more likely that what I heard when I tried it was what I would be getting on a consistent basis. It hasn't disappointed thus far. For the past 5 or 6 years, I had been playing on a Selmer-Bundy model 1310 from 1967. While it served me well, it is absolutely no comparison to this Buffet. All in all, I find it a very flexible and impressive instrument.

Thanks for your feedback, Brett. I'm a lifelong Albert system guy who recently began playing alto and bass, both Bundys - Boehms of course. I've fixed a lot of Bundys and Vitos for other folks and, in my opinion, for student horns, they play pretty nice. From all I've heard from others about the Greenline, they pretty much agree with you; it's way ahead of anything else even near its class. As you say, no comparison. My eyes are open but not my wallet... just yet. Thanks for sharing.
