i'm really sorry because this is totally not a clarinet stuff...
But if you can buy a town, maybe you can find some clarinets in it...

Coooool :)
And... apparently, a legitimate deal, Won Kim.
An article in today's Sacramento Bee newspaper, Business section, says: "Up For Auction" '80-acre Humboldt town being sold on eBay'. It continues, explaining that a big chunk of Bridgeville is on the electronic auction block - 80-plus acres, a mile and a half of riverbank, four cabins, nine houses, one cemetery and one backhoe for sale on eBay.
[Well, sorry Won, I don't find any music stores or clarinets in the package :| But it looks like a one-of-a-kind, first time, legitimate auction].
It's being advertised as a potential retreat, moneymaker or tax shelter. The bottom-line price: $775,000.
Very interesting. Thanks for the tip :)))
Bridgeville is up in Bob Gardner's territory. Maybe he'll auction a couple of horses and turn Bridgeville into a summer clarinet camp.
Wouldn't that be a kick???
Oh, yeahhhhh!!!

I saw that on the evening news and I wonder what key that backhoe is.

Great fixer-upper! Gee, in a state with a crippling $35,000,000 budget deficit, $300 a year for license plates, health care system in a tailspin, $3.00 a gallon of gas, minimum 13% state income tax, 20% sales tax and a card-carrying socialist for a Governor I wonder what the owners' annual tax assessment would really be? But like the ad says, check with your accountant for that tax shelter.

Gee, Ken, tell us what you really think.

California just wishes it had a $35mil deficit - you're off by 3 orders of magnitude ... but anyway, tone down your rhetoric, please. I let the thread stay because it was interesting [obviously it was off-topic] - you don't need to move the thread off-tangent further.

California, regardless of anyone's political leanings or observations, is in a heap of debt/deficit. Opinions won't change that fact. Sadly, the situation is already affecting school music education/programs. The word is out; money for school instrument repair/maintenance has already been withdrawn from many budgets. The students, parents, or their teachers will have to pay for the repairs themselves or try to play 'em as they are or try to do the repairs as best they can. That is, if music electives continue into next year (some will of course, depending on the districts). I'm quite sure other arts programs are going by the way as well. They're always the first programs on the chopping block in a fiscal crunch in spite of in-depth studies pointing out the long term benefits.

--Ron, are you stating that parents/legal guardians/teachers/tax payer whose kids are in a California public school band/orchestra program must "foot the bill" for the repairs of a "state school-owned" instrument? You must be kidding.
