Merry Christmas to me...My clarinet won't play an F (middle), a G (middle), and some other notes. And as I said before, the corks are falling off the keys. Luckily I have another clarinet that I borrowed from someone to use...but my clarinet teacher says the tenon (?) wood is swollen or something like that. I think it has something to do with our cold climate...? But I really have no idea what this means.
Anyone care to explain? I'd like to know a bit more, like the symptoms, before I ship my clarinet off a few hundred miles away....that's a bit expensive. Any good advice? Comments? Ideas, etc.? Thanks a bunch!

I would just bite the bullet and get it fixed. It is hard to speculate why those notes are not playing without seeing it. If the tenon is swollen you couldn't put it together properly which may be the answer but that is speculation.

Wooden clarinets absorb moisture from the player's breath and ambient air. As the humidity changes up and down, the clarinet will expand and contract along with it and cracks may result, or the tenon rings may become loose. Oiling the bore can reduce this effect to some degree, but avoid over-oiling.
If you have the corks that have fallen off, you could glue them back in place. Your clarinet teacher should try to play it and give you a more detailed diagnosis.

What notes are you referring to? The clarinet would normally be considered to have four F's and four G's.
