Are the fingerings the same for all clarinets? I was curious because I am planning on buying an Eb clarinet, and right now I have a Bb. I'm pretty sure that they are the same, but I thought I should make sure. Thanks.

Yes, an Eb clarinet do have the same fingerings than a Bb soprano clarinet.

In general, Katherine, Samy is quite correct but, not to disagree with Samy too much I must submit a qualifying 'yes... and no'. It depends somewhat on where in the world you live and where you plan to purchase an instrument:) Be aware that there are different "Systems" - (Boehm, Albert, German, Oehler and the far less common Mueller(Simple) system). There are others but they're nearly extinct now and you're not likely to come across one. You should be aware, however, that they exist. The fingerings for all instruments within those families(systems) are the same. Most modern clarinets, in countries outside Germany, the Netherlands and a few others in those general areas, are likely Boehm system instruments. If you find an Eb, or any other pitch, you like and the keys look and feel like your Bb instrument (only smaller, or larger, of course), you'll be okay because the fingering will be the same.

If they Eb you're getting has Boehm system keywork, the fingerings will be the same as on Bb. However, Eb altissimo fingerings are not as consistent as on Bb, and you often need to use alternates. Pete Hadcock's book on the Eb is absolutely essential for this, as well as many other Eb idiosyncrasies. Gary van Cott stocks it.
