Schreiber clarinets are quite good - I have an old "Albert" system which has served me well for 20+ years. There is a website, it's Boosey & Hawkes as they own Schreiber, the URL is: http://www.boosey.com/Instruments/Startframe.htm

I too am in the process of acquiring Oehlers. You may find that for reasons of cost and time it's worth looking into those offered by Yamaha. They make 3 models, student, intermediate and 'professional'

Anne,
I too am very much fond of the dark German sound. I recently came across something that I found extremely interesting for people like us (I mean Boehm system players looking after that typical dark sound) in the Yamaha catalog. This is their YCL-856 model which is a German style clarinet but with standard Boehm keywork.
You might want to check this link:

I thought it could be of interest to you.
Best regards,
Stéphane (France)

I do appreciate my Richard Keilwerth (not Julius Keilwerth, the saxophone maker) 22/6 German Clarinet, which seems to be a very nice stick. It is not an Oehler, but Richard Keilwerth does make Oehler instruments as well.
However, the conventional wisdom is: if you are looking for nothing but the best Oehler, Wurlitzer makes it.
Regards,
John
