Hi,
Is there any clarinet choirs in my vicinity? I would like to meet others who are playing in or might be interested in a clarinet choir, woodwind ensemble etc. This would be for amateurs (pros welcome) playing for fun. I live in Bremerton near Seattle, WA.
Does any one know of a bulletin board for connecting with other musicians for this type of activity?
Thanks, Kenold

A lot of people don't really like putting up their address in a public place.

To borrow a technique from Mark, Mark said,

In that case does anyone know any other sites that this information may be listed as well? Maybe other sites settle with just an email address or something. Cause the other people in my state are too far. And I'm sure that there are people that wouldn't mind getting together for the sake of music in my area if I could just find them.

Here's how we did it: A couple of people came up with the idea of creating a Clarinet Choir, one of them is a clarinet teacher. So they contacted likely suspects that they knew, told them to think of other interested ones, and invited them to our first Choir rehearsal. Our teacher had some music to start us off with, some easy arrangements. The first rehearsal had, I think, 4 or 5 in attendance. The membership has changed over time, but now we have quite a dedicated group plus quite an array of instruments.
It's all word of mouth. The teachers or University professors would have some good leads for you of those qualified/interested enough to start a group. Local community orchestra members may be interested as well.
Have fun!

Hi Kenold,
I play bass clarinet in the Northwest Clarinet Choir. We are based in Seattle, and have been rehearsing on Sunday nights, 7-9p.m. Our director is William Blayney, an excellent clarinetist, conductor and coach. Please contact me if you would like to learn more about our group.
Take care,
Brad
