 Old mouthpiece patch clean up
Author: Ken
Date:   2002-12-04 00:03

I have a mouthpiece that's been in storage for at least 10 years. I had a mouthpiece patch on it which has since become brittle. It doesn't peal off, it just cracks off and leave chunks of residue behind. Any recommendations for a clean removal of the old patch?

Goof-Off makes a water based adhesive remover which is safe for rubber mouthpieces - beware, do not use the petroleum distillate containing version of the product.

May I suggest an overnight soak in cool water with some Lime-away scale remover? Goof-off and other solvents may leave a taste.
