 Question on Joue Jolie ligature
Author: Ralph G
Date:   2002-12-01 23:26

I believe it is, but can someone confirm for me that the Joue Jolie ligature is inverted? It's a single screw lig, and from the pic in the IMS catalog I can't imagine it not being inverted.

Anyone know if it's okay to use on a Pomarico crystal mouthpiece?

Hi,

The ligature is inverted and it is a single screw. I really like mine very much and use it often (sometimes the modified Gigliotti or the common VD win out).

Whether it will work on a Pomarico, why wouldn't it?

Hank

I once saw that the BG Tradition (kinda similar to the Jolie) was recommended for rubber mouthpieces, which made me wonder if only certain ligs were recommended for crystal. Guess I should explained that better.

I like inverted ligs, and I've been wanting to try the Pomarico to tone down my bright sound in my orchestra. We won't meet again until January, so Ihave some time to experiment. I saw on some previous threads you like your Jolie.

Are you flying much, Hank?

Due the the slippery outer surface of crystal mouthpieces, some ligatures must be modified to stay put. On my 20 year old inverted Bonade ligature, I solved the problem with a few thin strips of masking tape on the inside of the 4 surrounding metal bands...GBK

Just for info, I sometimes use a Pomarico crystal m/p (saphire), and my BG super revelation (inverted indeed) works very fine with it.

Stéphane.

I like mine a lot. I use a Richard Hawkins mouthpiece. I do find I need to be sure to get it on the thickest part of the reed for the best sound. I sometimes have it set too low. Inverted, yep.

Jean
