I purchased a very old Bass Clarinet marked Alexandre, Paris France.
I was told it was made in the early 1900's. My question is does anyone know if the Alexandre brand is actually Alexandre Selmer. I have searched other threads and found some info on Alexandre but can not confirm whom made the Alexandre brand. It also is carved Paul Dupre in the wood and has a Paul Dupre mouthpiece. I also have found info on Dupre but do not know the association to Alexandre.

No.

You won't be able to; it was a stencil if I remember right.

If Dupre is embossed on the wood then that's probably the maker (mouthpiece notwithstanding - it may have been replaced).

Get it restored, it might turn out to be a great horn. If it has a really short fat bell it may be what they call a theatre model.

According to the langwell index, Paul Dupre was a maker active through around 1950. I have a metal clarinet of that make and it plays very well. The bass may turn out to be good. However, compare measurements against a modern bass. It may be high pitch
