Long time no talk, I'm sure no one remembers me.

Hi:
Take a look in the classified section on woodwind.org. A person at Indiana U is selling a Yamaha A for $550 or BO. It was posted on Monday.

A word of advice (even if you don't really need it)--Try Before You Buy. There are too many "bad" A clarinets out there to warrent taking a chance of a "cheaper" one without the right to return if not satisfied arrangement being made up front. Many major music stores have payment plans for those of us that can't afford to "pay cash." And usually, you can audition until you find an instrument that will give you a lifetime of great playing (as opposed to a "bad" A that can result in a lifetime of headachs). Nice to see your name again--Good Luck!!!

I for one recall you, C G, welcome back. A thought on selecting an A from a number of used clarinets. Look carefully near the logos, my Kohlert has only a small A to distinguish it [to me] from a Bb, except for the [assembled] additional length of about 1 - 1 1/2", of course for a 17/6. "FB" A's usually dont have a low Eb. I bought mine for a used Bb price!! Luck, Don

I remember you, too, Contragirl; not your specific posts, but I recall you've posted thought provoking ideas and suggestions. Glad you're still around and active :) I'm pretty sure only a small fraction of us who read these posts ever respond to most of them. They are nonetheless informative and beneficial to myriads. You've probably touched basecountless folks you'll never meet or hear from. Best wishes finding what you're looking for.

I don't think I am actually looking for someone to sell me an A clarinet, I am looking for suggestions on what dealers around the Washington DC area are good places to shop. And also what people think of the E11-A. I'm not even prepared to buy right away, that is why the classified are useless to me.

Only suggestion around the DC area that I can think would be Chuck Levins, but I am sure you already know that. I live in middle Virginia, so thats the onloy place around here to really get anything new, unless you use private people.
Good luck, Charles
