I may be in the market for a "wee beastie". I would be an occasional user (one or two gigs per year) and have had a couple of suggestions that I try the Amati as a good performer with good intonation and not too expensive. I have a nice Walter Grabner m/p which was fine with an old borrowed Leblanc. I have read in other posts that there are two bore sizes for Buffet (RC and R13).
I'd like to hang on to my m/p and couple it with a similar bore to the Leblanc.
So bearing in mind I don't want to break the bank, I'd be grateful if anyone could help :-
1) ? Anyone had experience of the Amati
2) ? Any suggestions other than metal clarinets and going to ebay.

Bob: I have no experience with Amati Eb Clarinets, but I surely do like my ACL-602 II Bb.

Hi Bob:
Almost everyone in NYC, who plays professionally, uses a Buffet
R-13. Ocassionally I see an RC, and they are quite good.
You'll probably buy only one Eb clarinet in your life, so make it the finest instrument you can find.
Whenever you're called upon to play it, it must sound great. And, Eb's are often out of tune, shrill, or just plain bad, so make sure the horn you choose will be good for years to come.
I recommend Buffet or Selmer only.

My "wee beastie" is a GOOD Noblet, which satisfies my cl-repairer-friend and me. My Eb Alto is a Selmer-Paris like my Bass. Don

Personally, I play an older (1990's) Yamaha pro-level effer which sounds great (as far as effers are concerned), is relatively well in tune with "user friendly" keys (slightly oversized for fingering ease). But for outdoor gigs with a local Bavarian (style) polka band, I use an old Bundy Resonite (1960's) that has a good sound throughout its playing range and can be played in tune. It is impervious to weather conditions and, being made of Selmer Resonite, is practically unbreakable (could almost double as a personal protection device). My mouthpiece is a Selmer HS** and works well on both the Yamaha and Selmer Bundy. I would recommend that you do yourself a favor and audition a Yamaha effer along with the Selmer and Buffet RC. Then, pick what plays best.

I bought a Selmer Bundy resonite model from Ebay in August, mainly for fun and to use with my community band form time to time. I got really lucky and was able to purchase the horn for 200, in nearly perfect condition. (ie. One pad needs replacing, but it is holding until I am home long enough to pass it on to my tech.) I've been thrilled with it so far. It was more than enough to fit my needs. If you don't really have a reason to purchase a top of the line horn, I would suggest the Bundy. Pretty together, if you ask me.

I play a Yamaha Eb.It,s possible that there are more sophisticated
instruments on the market but the Yamaha is in tune and easy to play.I should stress that I ,m a doubler and the motto "Safety First" plays a big part of my choice of instruments that aren,t
neccessarily "mainstream".

I play on a Buffet...and it is a sweet little beast. I can't say that I have ever heard anything positive about Amati. I concur with the person who said to buy the finest Eb you can find. I admit I rarely have a chance to play mine, but when I do I am glad it is a good solid instrument.

try the newer Selmer Eb's they play quite nice, but like anything PLAY BEFORE YOU PAY!!!!!

i have a bundy eb and as much as i hate to admit it its a decent little horn and a very good value $ wise. unless you are a pro its all you will need for ocasional use
