Header was just an attention getter (I hope).....
Just wanted to switch gears from an earlier thread regarding the Leblanc OPUS....in which Larry Combs responded....and Vic posted a nice response about how lucky we are to have such prominent clarinetists taking the time to pass on what they've learned about this instrument.
I can't help but wonder if people like Eric Clapton, (the late) John Entwistle, Alan Jackson, Michael Jordan, Tom Brokaw, Jerry Seinfeld, or anyone "famous" for work in their respective field ever just pop in on a chatroom or bulletin board to express themselves? I doubt it.
We as clarinetists are a particular breed, and very lucky indeed to have people of prominence, pop in from time to time and make themselves available to us.
Can you imagine tying to get in touch with Eric Clapton to get opinion on guitar strings? Yet, Greg Smith responds to inquiries about reeds and MPCs....
We are indeed lucky to have this website (thanks Mark) and fortunate to be among such a generous group of people.

Thanks for inviting me to respond in your phorum. I have just purchased a matched set of Bb and A R-13 clarinets and am planning on using them in my next gig. I was expecially attracted to the R-13 as it is the "sweetest" clarinet in the world.
Perhaps someone here can give me guidance. What wattage bulb should I use? Can I use the same on both, or does the A clarinet require a higher rating? Also, what is the best shade to put on the top?

EC: My suggestion is the 50-100-150 watt "Three-Way" bulb, for obvious reasons. And if your gig is an evening performance, my leaning would be toward the Purple Nightshade, naturally.

Most rock stars have their own web sites and some of them are very active in the bulletin boards/chat rooms on the sites. I forget which group but one rock group was even starting a book club like Oprah's on their site. Moby is often in the press for stuff posted on his site. The Who/Pete Townshend sites have extensive listings of which guitars, effects, amps, and even picks used by Townshend in recording different albums and on different tours.
