What strength reed do you think is the best for a Gigliotti mouthpiece (p facing)? I usually play a 3 1/2 V12...but i heard that this mouthpiece is intended for more like a 4 or 4 1/2...how much of a role does the mouthpiece really play?? thanks in advance for any advice!

A size 4 1/2 or 5 works well on this due to the very small tip opening and long legnth of lay. Nice mouthpiece and very easy to articulate.

After working professionally for many years i have come to a few personal observations on the gigliotti mouthpieces:
P is the most closed. I have found these particular facings to be quite restricted in terms of fliexibility and they produce quite a bright sound in my opinion. Apparently these are the facings that Anthony giglioti endorsed. I have also found they tend to be somewhat lower in pitch than most ..
P34 is something somewhat more open and again uses a very hard reed. These are more widely used among pro players...

I would have to disagree with this as I have used both, starting on the P and moving to the P34. The P is definately the darkest and it makes sense due to the harder reeds and extremely close opening, the P34 is a tad more centred and thats why I moved to it. Less muffled.
