I met Jon Manasse about 8 months ago and asked him about his mouthpiece. He said that at that point it was a custom-made combination of two Vandoren designs. Now that they've named it the M30, I imagine they'll put it on the market quickly to recover their retooling investment and take advantage of Jon's endorsement.

The M30 has been on the market here in France for a few months now. I assume it should be released in the US pretty shortly.

How does this fit into their lineup? There's no information about it on the Vandoren web site.

According to Vandoren's brochure that I got at MusikMesse, M30 has the same face opening as B40 -- meaning VERY open, and it has a VERY long facing. It is the easiest to play mouthpiece in Vandoren lineup.

"easy to play"--that sounds like what I'm looking for!

The M30 has been in the States at least since April of '02. That's when I bought mine. They are wonderful. I got to play on Mr. Manasse's prototype while I was going to school there, and I must say that the M30 plays pretty close to his prototype mouthpiece. The M30 does play very similar to the B40.
-Good luck James
