 Legere problem
Author: Rick2

After fixing an emboucher problem recently, I decided to try my LeGere reeds again. I pulled one out and discovered it to be curved so that it lays almost exactly flat against the rails of my mouthpiece. Can anybody give me a suggestion as to how to flatten it again?

Where did you store the reed?
If you store the currently curved reed in a reedguard for a couple of days, it might get back to its original shape.

For future reeds: if you store them in a reedguard right after playing, this problem should not occur.

Rick2 - Contact Guy and discuss your problem with him. He's been good at correcting his early problems with quality control, and this may be one of the quality problems.

I sent him an email after I posted this and he wants the reed back and is sending a replacement. As a matter of fact, I didn't even ask for a swap--it was his suggestion, however, as you and I are both engineers, we both understand the importance of getting failed product from the field.

This is the problem that I had when first trying them. The reeds were not flat to begin with. Guy was helpful in the extreme in correcting the problem and I was finally able to try some that didn't have this obvious defect.

He has a good repore with people that I've spoken to about him and his product and I believe is genuinely interested in making constant improvements at the suggestions of his customers.
