Is there a difference (in quality of sound, or feel) in Buffet barrels? I play my RC A clarinet with the barrel of my E13 Bb. Should I look for an RC barrel? (apart from an RC Bb ofcourse, which I cannot afford right now).
Thanks,
Jochem

My teacher told me a while ago that when you buy a clarinet essentially you are buying barrels so I would say yes it is an important part of the clarinet. Honestly... those buffet stock barrels are all just the same, which to me are not very good. You don't need anything but if you would like to raise the quality of your overall set up with a Chadash or a Moenig (did i spell that right) barrel then go for it. From my expierence chadash gives you the better tone quality but moenings play amazingly smooth. I personally use chadash and think it is definatly worth the investment. I would think that an E13 with an exceptional chadash barrel would play better than a buffet prestige R13 with the stock barrel.

I find quite big difference in different barrels. Anybody know where I can try Chadash or Moenig barrels in Europe?
