From what I've heard, crystal mouthpieces are great. Stay the same for years and years, don't warp, and many people love their sound. But where would I find some to try out? Also, what brand crystal mps are good? I am looking definitely for a long facing mp with a fairly closed opening (oxy-moron!) I think the term here would be a medium close.
I play a gigliotti P, but I find that I can't quite get the hardness of reed that this mouthpiece requires. However I do like the long facing and closed type. Any ideas? Thanks.

PS - preferably a place or site that I can get a trial. I don't wanna be stuck with one without having the ability to try it for a few days.

Always forget to add something. I'm pretty sure that this setup requires a 4.5 or so Vandoren V12. I was looking for a mp that has long facing, but can take 3.5 - 4 (3.5, preferably).

Pomarico if a great crystal MPC manufacturer. I've been using theirs for years now...
Their Emeraldd crystal is comparable to the Giglotti of yours.
Tip opening is 1.02mm and the facing is 18mm. Recommended reed strength is 3 up to 4.

Thanks. I am definitely looking into the emerald mouthpiece. And I haven't really found any other crystal mp manufacturers that seem to have soemthing like that. I am also gonna check out the new Nigun facing. A little more open than the emerald, but I just wanna make sure that I do things a little more properly this time instead of just picking ONE mouthpiece and saying, "That's it." I Will contact them and send along the hello as well!

Also, does anyone know the measurements on the Gigliotti mouthpieces? I've been searching online and can't find their stats. Does anyone know the exact opening and facing? P model if you can find out. Thank you.

ONE more question. Honest, last one on this thread . . . .
I searched and found that the pomarico, which sound QUITE inviting at this point, each model has an M or B designation. Mellow or Bright I believe. Is that the lustre of the crystal? Or supposed sound. And since I'm getting a close mp, would I get bright to counter the harder reed if it's sound? Or would I go mellow to better blend and play chamber/ensemble pieces?

It really depends on what "sound" you want. Crystals tend to be dark anyway, so you mght want to go with the B rather than M.
Ask Riccardo at Pomarico if he can send one of each for you to choose. Keep in mind though the shipping cost from here to Italy may "buy" another MPC.
