In honor of Picasso's birthday, perhaps we should be reminded how he viewed the clarinet in 3 works of his cubist period:

The MOMA in NYC has had them on display. Your posting brought back fond memories of that wonderful museum, and the realization of just how great an artist Picasso was.
Although, he did pick the "clarinet" as one of his models? Makes you wonder?
