I broke my beloved Pomarico Crystal after only 4 months of use.
It was the best mouthpiece I ever had. As it happens, I was
having my clarinet adjusted that day at Guy Chadash. He and
Chris Hill took pitty on me, and let me place an immediate order.
It is very different from the Pomarico. Both were smooth over
the breaks. The Chadash however is clearly "more filled in"
in all tones, especially in the throat tones. My term
is either "woody" or "chocolately." Recorded myself on
it and 4 other mouthpieces, including my favorite string
ligature german mouthpieces. It matches the old german
mouthpieces in "woody" without all those intonation shutters.
Recommended that you try it.

To clarify, my understanding is that:
1) There is a Bb clarinet mouthpiece "blank" (an uncompleted, not-yet-playable, unfinished mouthpiece) by Guy Chadash and Chris Hill.
2) The blanks will be available in this unfinished form to mouthpiece makers in order to complete (like Chris Hill did in the case of terry's finished example above).
3) Similarily, a variety of individual mouthpiece makers will acquire these same unfinished blanks, "finish" them in their own personal way, and sell them under their own name.

To ensure that there is no confusion. Mr. Smith is
correct. My Chadash-Hill mouthpiece is *finished*
by Mr. Chris Hill from the Chadash-Hill blank. You
need to contact the Chadash web site to get/ask for
details on either the blanks or finished mouthpiece.

I have and always will continue to consider carefully, new mouthpiece blanks that may posess the qualities that I'm able to determine are what I want to put my name on - complimenting my already existing line of mouthpieces.

These are really fine players. They are quite beautiful. If you want projection and volume, look elsewhere. Otherwise, for those who love a fruity, singing tone, with the right reed these pieces will take your breath away.

I have been playing on a Chadash-Hill blank finished by Chris Hill for about 2 years now, it's the finest mouthpiece I've played on thus far. I've never had the opportunity to play on any vintage mouthpieces so far though. As I understand there were some changes to the blank since then, and once I'm back in the US, I look forward to seeing Chris in person to try some of these out and get my current one touched up. It's definitely worth your time to try one.

Can I ask what reed you play on them?
My last experience with them with a 3 1/2 or 4 v12 was not very successful. The window was too narrow, maybe the white/black master work better.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I use a #3 Gonzalez reed or a #3.5 trad Vandoren scraped just before the resistance contour. The C-H mouthpiece I have is the 1.04 (medium) model.
My guess is that the V12s are choking it.

I also have a Chadash-Hill with the 1.04 tip, and I use #3 1/2 Rico Grand Concert Evolutions and Gonzales FOF (also # 3 1/2) reeds on it. This is
my main mouthpiece.

The Vandie Black Master generally does work well on them. Also, much to my surprise, the plain jane blue box reeds work as well.

I always had a problem with Black Masters on my Chadash-Hill Mouthpiece, or any other mouthpiece for that matter, they always chirp. If they didn't chirp I wouldn't be making my reeds from tube cane, they'd be the perfect reed for me.

I noticed that the Chadash-Hill mouthpiece table was narrower than the reeds I use. After some experimentation (see http://sterkel.org/clarinet) I came up with the Foglietta E* reed. It exactly matches the table. I know that that is hardly a recommendation, but sonically and in playability, it is a match made in heaven. http://www.foglietta.de/
