Have had my new Chadash clarinet for a week now. Srarted up with a tour of France where I baught a few new mouthpieces to go with it at Vandoren.
The feeling when playing it is very comfortable. The sound is more focused than any Buffet I've ever tried. He has become a very good maker and I can highly recommend his work. Has anybody else tried his instruments?

Yes I did.

The blank looks and feel great. The facing was really different than my current setup so I was fighting with it to get the sound I wanted.
It's definitely worth a try, although I am sure its price is going to be high to high for me...

I have been thinking about ordering a Chadash Bb, and I'm glad I saw your post. If you don't mind, I have a few questions. You say that the Chadash sound is more focused than any Buffet you have played; is the sound darker, brighter or about the same as Buffet on that score? How is the keywork? Is the clarinet tuned to A440? Did Mr. Chadash give you any options in ordering your clarinet with respect to tuning or other issues? When I emailed him, Mr. Chadash said that it would take about three months for him to make the clarinet and deliver it; was that your experience? Sorry to be so nosy, but I haven't run into many people who have played (much less bought) a Chadash clarinet. By the way, when I emailed him, Mr. Chadash said that he had just delivered a clarinet to Pascual Martinez Forteza of the NY Philharmonic. Thanks.

While at Guy's shop getting my Herman Todt repaired, I have
had the opportunity to try his hand built Chadash clarinet.
Impressive. Guy normally has a back-order. Did not order
a matched Bb and A, despite my deep "want." I am just
an active dillatant, and could not justify it.

I would say that the timbre that comes out is very similar to a Buffet or a semi-dark sound. I think dark or bright has more to do wich MP/reed combo you chose. It has a lot of overtones within a very focused sound that gives a great feeling of control. The leaps between registers are evened out so big jumps in legato is not a problem.
I'm in Europe where we play in A=442 so I use a 65mm barrel that works fine.
