I was searching for clarineet reeds online and was amazed by the differences in prices. The same reeds (for example, Vandoren Traditional) are sold from $1 on Ebay to $11.99 in some stores to $22.99 in other stores. I understand that Ebay gives no guarantees, but what about regular stores? The difference in prices is so ridiculous that I wonder -- are they the same reeds? Could the cheap stores sell low-quality merchandise (returns, closeouts, irregulars, etc.)?
I wonder if anybody had bad experience with "cheap" places. I'm hesitant to use them at this point.

Stick with the major online stores and get decent prices.
Less than $15 USD/box is pretty good.
For a REAL alternative, try Phil Muncy's new version of the Oliveri reeds... 5 winners in a box (of 5 reeds) is par on his course!

I have been buying reeds from discount stores for the past two years and saw no difference in quality, and the service, in fact, was better. Try roberto's woodwinds (www.robertoswoodwind.com) or onestop clarinet shop (www.1stop.ws).

Stan, you may find that the $1 listing is for an opening bid on a reed auction. To see what they actually sold for, check "completed auctions" and search for reeds.
<discountreed.com> is a Sneezy sponsor and I have had good success there. They have almost any reed you might wish.

I have bought reeds and other things from Discount Reed Company. I will continue to deal with them. They also offer many small accessory items... neckstraps, ligatures, etc. Discount Reed is a sponsor of this BB, so you can click on "Sponsored By:" at the top of this page for contact information. This may not be the cheapest place to buy reeds, but the service is fast, shipping charges are very low, and anything in their catalog is almost always in stock. Please note that I am among the world's greatest cheapskates, and I will pay more than the lowest price available only for good reason.
Buying reeds through eBay is the same as buying anything else through eBay: if you are careful and accurate in your analysis of what the seller has to offer, you may find rare bargains. On the other hand, you might get a bunch of rather worthless junk.

Nope. Has to be a valid <b>URL</b> (Uniform Resource Locator), which means it has to start with http:// or one of the other URL prefixes. You forgot that part.
