Somebody posted a question about Eb clarinets, I have one of a different nature. I play an old Boosey and Hawkes Albert System Eb, a beautiful instrument with a gorgeous tone and well in tune, but I think it maybe unusual owning to the fact that it has the serial number throughout, on the bell, upper and lower joint, the barrel and even the mouthpiece, is this common or am I just lucky to come across one?

An "IN TUNE EFFER!!!!"--I would say you are quite lucky indeed. Who cares what his name or serial number might be--just enjoy!! As for it being "unusual" (other than being in tune), I would guess that it may have been common practice to label all instrument parts "back then." I'm just guessing, however--more learned clarinetist historians may have more useful info. Again, good luck--and ENJOY!!!

I have recently acquired a B&H Imperial Eb (also gorgeous, with a lovely tone & also pretty well in tune, but mine's a Boehm). It has a single body, with the serial number on that and not on the barrel or bell.
I know that doesn't really answer your question, but it shows that it wasn't universal practice to number all the sections.
