Info on a Boosey and Hawkes?

I own a Boosey and Hawkes wood clarinet that was my grandmothers many years ago. I've been playing it for the past 5 years in middle and high school bands, and it is my pride and joy. I've been told by several different instrument "repairmen" that it is of various ages and values. I'm not interested in selling it, or even packing it up because of it's monetary value. I know that it's an Edgeware, though I'm not sure of the serial #'s. (The instrument isn't with me at the present time.) It has metal "caps" on the ends of the joints, so that when it is put together, the wood will not split. I believe it's nickel plated, but I cannot be 100% sure. I've been told it's anywhere from a 1929 to a 1956 model instrument, and I'd like to know if anyone else out there is knowledgable. It came with two barrels, as well... Though only one of them has the Boosey and Hawkes insignia on it. (I play on the shorter, unmarked one, for tone quality.) It's in lovely condition and plays beautifuly, though I'm a rather inexperienced player. (I'm afraid experience is limited at 16...) Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! :)

If you search the BBoard for Edgware you'll come up with a good amount of information.

Malaya, I'm a big Boosey Hawkes fan. My first clarinet was a 2-20 (basicly an Edgware) and I still play it more then anyother horn I have. B&H were cranking them out so you can always find them on ebay for a real bargin.
The Boosey.com site has a cool forum to check out with some good info.

Enjoy it.

Malaya,
To the best of my knowledge Edgwares didn't have metal tenon caps until 1956, but I could be wrong. The serial number (once you get it) will tell us the year.

Metal caps could have been put on by a good repair shop. I have install many in past years.
