So, the Wall Street Journal thinks SpongeBob SquarePants is gay. And as for his clarinet-playing friend Squidward. . . .

Here's a novel idea:

Perhaps the Wall Street Journal could fill up their column space with, perhaps, an article exposing insider trading or better yet, dishonest brokerage house analysts, instead of wasting space on -

The sexuality of a sponge!!

I guess it must be a slow news day...GBK

The WSJ regularly spends a small part of its column space taking notice of possible trends that are at least peripherally business-related in some way, such as sales of novelty figures. I think the editors think it adds human interest to what appears to many to be a very dry subject.

In this case, I don't think the WSJ was making a statement about SpongeBob's sexuality. Rather, it was spotlighting a possible trend of gay men relating to SpongeBob because of his "sunny optimism" and "innocence," and the show's "attitude of tolerance." Mr. SquarePants (to use the WSJ's style) and his pals "are all very different from one another," but "they get along. No one is shut out."

Sounds to me like a description of this bulletin board (and the denizens of these clarinet infested waters) at its best. Of course, when we're not at our best, that might make Mr. Charette, Mr. Krabs . . . ;+))

Gee Whiz Bandy... you think this Squidward is a fabrication?

Good writers invent, the best scribble down reality...

A cranky clarinet player? Imagine that!

My friend observed that SpongeBob SquarePants wears the same outfit that the the students in the Nazi Germany schools wore and has the blond hair and blue eyes. Well, not really hair, but he is a yellow sponge.

Nick,

For your friends's sake, I hope SpongeBob doesn't decide to start selling mouthpieces ;-)
