Unfortunately, they need me to put their PowerPoint presentation together.
My wife is good friends with the executive director, and she’s been hired to do some PR work for them. The opening concert of the season is Saturday, and there are a zillion things to do before them. One of them is putting together their pre-concert and intermission PowerPoint presentation, where they thank all their sponsors and give info on their upcoming concerts. My wife knows next to nothing about PowerPoint. I’m sort of a PowerPoint expert-by-default, since I’ve had to learn it in all my past jobs. So I get to do it. I’m pretty sure my wife got handed the job because our friend knew I’d step in. So instead of being a symphony clarinet geek, I’m a computer geek.
At least we got free tickets. And my nephew is subbing in the percussion section.
BTW, sub auditions are today. I decided to wait until next year and play out this year in the community chamber orchestra and the wind symphony. I need the practice and experience.

Ralph,
I get your point, even if you don't seem to get your own point! If I could get near to any symphonic orchestra here in Paris for whatever reason (putting a ppt presentation together, turning the page during rehearsal, emptying the bins) I would run and do it, so just enjoy the good time!
