I've had a selmer signature case (leather interior) for about three years now. it's beautiful to look at and the interior has worn well. Since you're making your own, you should make sure that there's enough "grip" to ensure that the parts don't shift around (especially barrels). Perhaps this can be achieved by using an injected foam foundation, upon which the leather can be set. In other words, a BAM case with leather.
