Hi Everyone!
I know this isn't exactly clarinet related but I just wanted to wish the best for those in the path of Isidore. Where I am in Louisiana we will be on the west side of the storm so we will only get rain and gusty winds.
So batten down the hatches folks and take care of yourselves and your families! We want to hear from you on the board soon!

We've been watching this one in Corpus Christi, TX, and are grateful for our sake it's missing us, but we wish those in its path well. Doesn't appear it'll be too bad and shouldn't intensify much before landfall. Just stay dry.
Hurricane Bret hit us in 1999. That could've been much worse than it was and was actually kind of fun to ride out. Got a day off from work out of it!

Out here in earthquake country we're unfamiliar with that kind of potential disaster. It's always with empathy and trepidation though, that we hear and watch news broadcasts about them and hope it won't be nearly as bad as it could be. I, too, hope Isadore will poop out before reaching land.
In a case like this, do we say, 'Keep your reed dry' ?

Like Ron, out here in tornado "alley", we hopr the worst [flooding] will be averted. I recall being in Freeport TX, when a hurri was churning up the Gulf, was glad to get away. Reeds, moist perhaps, but not wringing wet! Best wishes, Don

I've been through four hurricanes (including carla in the early 60s)
as well as dozens of tropical storms. Lived in a lttle town called LaPorte on the Gulf Coast SE of Houston. Can tell you as a kid they were "fun" and a little scarey. Glad I wasn't an adult homeowner. We almost lost our house to carla. Another 12 hours and we would have, but she "blew out". The cleanup afterwards is horrible. Batton down and be safe Louisiana....

We are just outside Galveston and I'm watching closely. I only have about 5 miles of cow pasture and marshland between my house and the water, so there's not much protection. It IS good though to be able to ride them out on land now. During my stint in the Coast Guard, I had to do it on the boats and there's ALWAYS some idiot who sets sail just before or during one of these storms.
