Author: James

Arg.... I have been trying to get this skinny tunning ring out of my barrel and I have no idea how to do this. I really don't want to have to take a knive and poke it out becuase I might destroy my barrel. Does anyone have an suggestions?

thanks,
James

Hi James,

You can bend a small right angle in the sharp end of a large safety pin. Just jam it into a piece of hardwood or similar, and bend, or use pliers.

Sewing needles are too brittle.

Paperclips are easy to bend into any shape you need.

Go to your dentist and ask him for a used (sterilized) explorer probe. This is the metal thing with a small crook at the end for sticking in your teeth. I ask him for them every time I visit. Sometimes I go in just for some used ones that he isgoing to throw away. They are invaluable for numerous things.

A thin, flat tool will do less damage to the timber than poking between the timber and the ring with a sharp-pointed, wire-like implement.

How about the flat spring out of an old video cassette, bent at right angles near the end, and also at the other end for finger grip.
