Ed, you might wish to do a "search" on this comparison as it has been discussed at length here.Fibracell work beter for me as Legere split.

Ed: Having tried only one sample of each (Legere #2¼ and Fibracell Med Soft), the Legere is back in a holder and the Fibracell is now pretty much permanently mounted on my V-40, which I keep assembled in my office so I can play it at a moment's notice. I found the Legere to sound more raucous, while the Fibracell actually sounds like a piece of good quality real wood. Again, do remember that this is based on a sample of only one reed each, and any results based on so small a sample size may be inapplicable to anything other than the sample itself.
Regards,
John

I've been playing the Legere #3 3/4 for more than 10 months.
Same reed, approaching 60 hours use (when the Vandys let me down)
no splits....
Raucous?
These things are designed to emulate natural cane, so they certainly will not last forever. You should anticipate one to outlast 10 pieces of regular cane.
I know lots of sax players that dig the fibracell, but for clarinet the Legere gets my vote (by wallet lottery).

Perhaps I should have said that the Legare that split was for my Sop.Bb but the Fibracell is on my Bass and goes on forever.
