I've just done a search under reeds and air conditioning, but the question I have wasn't answered in it. When I am slowly breaing in reeds over a week or 10 days, I tend to notice differences when I briefly play them in air con as opposed to at home without air con. Is it bad if I work on the reeds one day at college (in air con) and the next at home without air con... even if they are kept in a sealed container inbetween?

For my $.02, the only difference I know of between the two is changes between levels of temp and humidity. Both of the factors will affect the reeds and how you sound. (which you may have noticed) In my dealings with these slivers from the evil place, I find it best to try to make it the same if I can. In an A/C room, perhaps it may be best to keep the reeds (casebound) in my pocket or hands to warm them first before I moisten them in my mouth. If not, then I just pop them in my mouth. This seems to work best for me, but your mileage may vary.

Does your sealed container have desiccant in it? Several pro's that I know who live in both dry and wet environmental conditions keep their reeds in a sealed container (I use Tupperware - they use fancy cigar humidors) with a desiccant that keeps the reeds at around 45-55% relative humidity and some kind of monitoring device (RH guage or chemical strip). Then when you take them out you always have a reed with a similar RH to start with. Unless there is a vast difference in temperature between venues then the reeds should react in the same way.
