Sorry, I had to be catty. You should have heard the person sitting across from me who was trying to listen to her cd player. She was pissed!!!
Play on the subway in NYC and you never know who will hear you.
Other than the throat tones, it wasn't all that bad. I wouldn't want to play on a moving subway, that's for sure.
And he was going the wrong way to get to Chadash. I nearly said something to the poor guy, but I didn't care that much.

huh...what did he look like? I know a guy who plays in the NYC subway sometimes, and he's mostly a sax player...so that may be it...lol
For the record, I've only ever been to NYC once, and never made it on a subway...lol

We just do it so no one will sit next to us on crowded days.
And it wasn't flat, it was the Doppler effect.

Did anyone catch "A Prarie Home Companion" this past weekend on NPR? The show (I'm not sure if it was a repeat or not) featured New York subway musicians. The two I heard included a vocal duo and a Indian (as in the country of) instrumental ensemble. It was really cool. Listening reminded me of David's A train clarinetist. I guess the PHC producers couldn't track the fellow down.

A guy used to play his alto just at the top of the subway stair at 86th and Lex. One day, I saw a mom give her little girl a coin for him. The innocent 4 year-old walked over and dropped it into the bell of the horn. The player and I laughed like hell.
