Richard played and had a wonderful mouthpiece clinic this Spring for the Kennasaw State University Clarinet Symposium in conjunction with the Atlanta Clarinet Association. I was complaining that I (and others may not have had the same experience) had trouble with the Legere reeds sounding the way I wanted them to sound and he provided several of his mouthpieces to try with them. I was amazed what a the difference in sound - much more to my liking - that I got. His particular form of magic with mouthpieces - others like Smith, Fobes, etc. have their forms of magic - has been lauded for use with the synthetic reeds. I have always been wanting an absolute backup (i.e. a synthetic reed) in a bad situation. As with any mouthpiece, ligature, and reed combo it is highly individual but this one seems to work well for me and possibly for others that want to try synthetic reeds.
