A short while ago there was some discussion about the merits of various makes of case covers (gig bags?). On the strength of the discussions I ordered an Altieri double pocket bag from a U.S. supplier. When it arrived here in Australia I was a bit disappointed that they had supplied a single pocket bag, and since freight cost was just about equal to the bag cost I did not return it.
I have since noticed in Office stationery stores bags for lap-top and notebook computers which suit a clarinet case perfectly with extra pockets, and many makes to chose from, and at better prices. Definitely worth a look.

I have seen these also. Pro-Tec makes a clarinet case that is very similar to a lap-top computer bag, and my teacher has one. However, one of my friends priced these and realized that they are very expensive and it was cheaper to buy the same type of case, but this one was designed for a lap-top.

Roger may be onto something here.
My gig bag was reasonable in price, but it also has its faults. Now, it's not bad for what it was designed to do, especially at its price, but it certainly is not designed to take the rough handling that a laptop case can.
If the outer bag ("gig bag") of your choice provides very good protection for your horn's case, it's easy to carry, and it's rugged in construction, then go for it. If it's a laptop case in initial design, that's great, too. The point here is that a gig bag is supposed to do a few things very well. First, it needs to protect the horn's case from the elements and from scratching, wear, etc. Second, the gig bag needs to be easy to carry, preferably over the shoulder to relieve the stress from the hands. Third, the essential gig bag is supposed to carry the extra goodies that won't fit inside your horn's case, such as music, perhaps a small music stand, etc.
So, if you find that a good laptop case works for you, go for it. After all, fair is fair. My wife is using my clarinet gig bag for her small laptop right now anyway...

I like the protec Bags and I didn't think that it was that expencive.

The main goal of a case cover is to insulate the horn itself... the case is much cheaper to replace than getting a new horn... also it should give you the option to carry the case on your shoulder or hold it... and give you more room.... but to protect the case itself... i'm not too concerned with...
