I have just bought a Bb/A clarinet pair. The Bb clarinet is a Marigaux but the A clarinet is unknown for me. The only markings on it is on the bell. Something like "eia", "cid", "eid" or "cia" in an oval. Can anyone help me with the brand?
Does anyone have a serial number chart for Marigaux (SML) clarinets? I am curious how old mine is (#54xx).

I'd suggest viewing it carefully in sunlight, some of the other "maker's?" info may be readable. I believe "cie" in French means company/corporation, Buffet uses a dotted oval with Buffet Crampon et cie on their horns, so its possible you have a Buffet bell on a Marigaux clar, might be a good one!! The Mariguax's are supposed to be quite fine. How does it play?

Nothing else than the oval with the three letters (eia, cid or whatever...) are written on the A clarinet.
The Bb clarinet is a Marigaux for sure, so is the nice double case I got with the clarinets. It's hard to tell if it's a good player or not, it's leaking and in need of an overhaul.
