 David Glazer
Author: John Moses

I'm checking to see if any of you know anything about David Glazer's health? I haven't seen or heard from him in years. He lived, taught, and played here in NYC for many years.
If anyone has any info, please post.
Thanks,
JJM

Studied with Mr. Glazer in the summer of 84 and had a great time....I too would like to know how he is and whether he is at the Hartt School of Music still.

Unfortunately, David Glazer died a little over a year ago. See http://www.woodwind.org/Databases/Logs/2001/03/000182.txt.

I don't ever remember Mr. Glazer on the Hartt faculty, at least not for the past 25 years...

Thanks for your postings, friends.
I just spoke to David's cousin, Bob Glazer, here in NYC.
David has left us, but he leaves wonderful memories of a terrific guy, fine player and teacher.
Farewell David!

Glazer at Hartt ??? I may be incorrect but I don't believe so.

In the era of the 60's/70's, there was a clarinet teacher , William GOLDSTEIN who was also the principal in the Hartford SO. (his brother, Harvey was an oboe teacher and the princ oboe in HSO)

The other full time teacher from that era was Henry Larsen (of Rose etude fame) and he was the 2sd in the HSO.

Other teachers were Kalman Opperman, who flew up from NYC on Fridays and Peter Hadcock of the BSO.

I do recall that David Glazer was a member of the clarinet faculty at at NYC based college/univ/sch of music.

His recording of the Brahms Quintet on EMI is a tremendous testament to his artistry and instensity as a player. Very few clarinetists reach such heights. I also think Mr. Glazer was in Cleveland orchestra in the mid 40s for a breif stint. I think he mentioned that to me.
