dc = please DO NOT correct spelling here - it is not "done" - not my rule, by Mark C's and I agree with it. I never make grammatical or spelling errors - I just have recalcitrant fingers.

sometimes i start a posting, and don't finish it because i can't work out how to spell a word, how's that for neurotic? i type much faster than my handwriting, and some words just kind of fly by.... but then when i read back it looks terrible so i can't bring myself to click on the button
i didn't know there was a "don't correct spelling" rule..... hmmmm

The postings such as this are for information requested for a maker. Not all questions to me come via the BBoard - I wouldn't wish my email load on anyone - but the answers to the manufacturer questions are posted here so they don't get "lost".
And yes, there is a "don't correct spelling or Latin grammar" rule.

Thirty years of "all teachers are teachers of English" makes this "rule" rather lame for me. We can advise about a piece of wood, but must be tacit toward skills pertaining to communication. Duh! jim(M)

Well said NZD, I have that "problem" also and ONLY correct a mis-spelling by spelling it correctly in my post [after looking it up]. Re: Laube, Rendall mentions him as a maker "La Couture, Paris, c 1878- ". Don

This maker should not be confused with P.X. Laube which, according to the the entry in "Has anyone ever heard of" on this site was a stencil name used by the Progressive Musical Instrument Corp. from 1920 to 1950. It is this company's (Progressive) metal clarinets that frequently show up on eBay.
I do have what I believe to be a true D. Laube clarinet. It is a Boehm model C clarinet stencilled "Bay State." However, when I removed the keys to recondition it, I found the name "Laube" very neatly inscribed (in tiny letters) on both joints.

Yes, we must. Correcting spelling, syntax, or grammar often escalates and morphs into things that are best left alone.
Answering the post with the correct spelling (lead by example) is the accepted way here.
