This text line from the archive is pithy, but has less than complimentary remarks for the 'Academy Model" designation.
The serial range quoted by Hans Moennig (in the article, without corroboration) is from 39,000 to 41,000 which presumably predates the instrument at auction.
However, the presence of a metal ring on a Buffet tenon does not point to typical R13 assembly.
If the instrument can be purchased cheaply, then the risk maybe worthwhile. If not, there may be better choices available.
