A few weeks ago, I said I had the opportunity to busk at the local farmers market. A friend of mine and I have a clarinet-bassoon duet group called Bassoonette. I asked for advice and got lots of it most of which I followed. Thanks to all that helped. We were invited to play by the coalition for a group that couldn't play this week end. We played from 9 to 12, Beethoven duos and some old war horse overtures and march arrangements from Linear Music (a BB sponsor). We made 80 dollars and a bag of Dutch Letters. We got our picture taken several times, answered alot of questions from kids and some adults on what a bassoon was. We also got a booking for next summer to play for some guys daughter's wedding. More than anytime we had fun and enjoyed the trill of making music. Would love to do it again but must wait till next summer as my parner is leaving for her first year at the U. of Minnesota next week. Thanks again for all the good advice, it was a blast.

Wow! 80 bucks! You hit it big! My last busking experience came out to about $40 divided between five people.

Um - are Dutch Letters any relation to French Letters?

I was smiling at that, too, but it didn't seem likely. After searching on google, I think they're cookies (the eating kind, not the computer kind). (BTW, I think the French call French Letters, English Letters.)

I do some busking in the UK and I have found out that I make more money on my own, if two of us make £30 that is £15 each but on my own I make less but every time it is more than £15! thereby endeth the lesson,
Barrie
