A$ = US$ 0.53-0.54 depending on the day. Occasionally a little higher. 2 years ago I bought a new R13 for A$2,590, and recently I saw them in the same store for A$2800.

Sure, try a Steuben. They go for a lot less :)

nahya^^ -
Professional clarinets are actually quite inexpensive compared to most other professional instruments. That doesn't make it any easier to afford as a high schooler.

Price a profesional flute and you'll understand.

Buffet prices do appear to be cheaper in Australia than in the USA, no matter how you slice it. Go to your favorite internet currency converter and convert A$2800 to US $, and you'll see what I mean.

Still, the selling price of $1250 for a new R-13 on Ebay certainly sets a record for a big time good deal!

To my Australian friends, while you're putting that shrimp on the barbie for me, would you mind if I took a little run down to the music shop?....

Just think, I can buy my trip to friendly Australia with the money I would save by buying my clarinet in Australia rather than the USA. Duties included.

But if you want some decent scenery cross to New Zealand. :-)
