 selmer 10 B?
Author: Rick Fogle

I just purchased an old selmer 10 clarinet. On the bell under the 10 there is a B, also on the barrel under the selmer mark. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks for your info, Rick

Just makes sure it is a barrel for a Bb clarinet. Usually only marked when bought separately or as part of an A/Bb set.

I have three Selmer series 10s. Two Bb and one A. The B on the barrel and the bell indicates that they are for the Bb clarinet. However, I found that the barrel used for the Bb works real well for the A. I use it all the time switching between horns and that way I don't inadvertantly pull the ligature/reed off the mouthpice during swaps. I did some research with Selmer also, and they indicated that the same barrel is used between both horns. I didn't believe it, but it works!
