Perhaps old news to some, but according to a recent post on the Klarinet mailing list, the REAL Blayman stands are now back:

Heavy, costly, but rock solid - tough to find a more secure stand...GBK

You mean I should give um my relatively light and portable K&H bass clarinet stand and go back to the heavy, awkward Blayman stand I used to lug around for years? Ah, progress.......

Dave...Sorry - can't speak about the bass clarinet stands, but I've always used the regular clarinet stands and have never had a mishap.
A tired right arm from carrying it? Yes
A clarinet that ever tipped over? No...GBK

The best stands ever!
The safest and most sturdy!
Herb was a great player at the Met, and teacher here in NYC where I studied with him. I still use the stands he gave me.
Good to see him back.

David: Come to almost any Broadway musical and check it out.
Most of the doublers here in NYC use Herb's stands, and the Bass Clarinet stand with 2 legs holds an additional 4 horns, really!
The stands are the most sturdy and protect your horns best from that accident ready to happen.

Hi again:
Just heard from Randy Beecham who has taken over the Blayman Stand business. He sounds like a good guy who will try to continue to make the high quality stands we got from Herb.
It seems that Herb's wife just died last week after a brief illness, and now Herb is not well. He's living somewhere in South Carolina near his daughter. He's no longer in New Mexico.
The good news is Randy will continue the stand business, and Herb will get all of our good wishes for good health.

John...Thanks for the update. Every time I look down at my stand and see Herb's signature on the base, I'll be thinking of him...GBK

I use the Blayman over the K&M on bass despite the fact that it is heavier. It is much more secure and has a smaller "footprint" so it is much easier to use in a tight setting. Besides, when I look at what the bass clarinet costs, that extra weight is worth it for the security. I am so glad to see these stands are once again available. One of the best products on the market.

GBK - I'm looking for one that will hold a Contrabass clarinet, double-bassoon and tin-whistle - all in one, any ideas?

John and Ed,
I certainly can't argue that the Blayman bass clarinet stand is quite secure and is used extensively by professionals --- and the ability to add pegs is nice (I drilled and tapped the base of mine to accept two pegs). But as a frequent doubler/tripler/quadrupler, the K&M is much handier (as it folds and is lighter) which is important to me when I'm also lugging two, three, or even four other horns, plus maybe a music stand and sometimes a bagful of small percussion equipment, from my car to a gig (which could be many blocks from the parking spot). I suppose the ideal solution would be to have both types of stands available. By the way, Larry Bocaner (retired Washington DC National Symphony Orchestra bass clarinetist) makes his own B.C. stand which looked pretty good to me and might be worth investigating.

His clarinet mouthpieces for Bass and Soprano are unfortunately discontinued. These mouthpieces were world class as well.
Sincerely a Blayman fan, David Dow
