Does anyone own the Stoltzman CD "The Essential Clarinet" with, I think, Copland Concerto, Corigliano Concerto, Stravinsky's Ebony Concerto, and a Bernstein piece that I can't remember right now? How is Stoltzman in this CD?

I own this cd and I think it is wonderful. While his interpretation of the Copland is not like Drucker's or any other classical-based player, it is very interesting to hear his jazzy style. The Corigliano is awesome and the Stravinsky and Bernstein pieces are played very well and in the right style for that type of music. And, by the way, the Bernstein piece is Prelude, Fugue, and Riffs.

I also have this CD, and I must say that it captures Stoltzman at his finest. The interpretation of the Copland concerto is different than any I have ever heard, but his version is my favorite. The Corligiano is simply amazing, as are the rest of the selections on the CD. Enjoy.

The Essential Clarinet is my #1 favorite CD! Stoltzman plays the Copland VERY nicely! The Corigliano is intersting too. It's good to listen to modern clarinet music once in a while... get some ideas for composing and improvising.
