 gonzalez reeds

At the suggestion of GBK, (who is the most talented clarinetist and brilliant man you could ever meet) I have tried Gonzalez reeds. Compared to V12s--- all I can say is... VIVA LA DIFFERENCE!!!
The tone of the Gonzalez reeds is singing and vibrant, and I am hearing nuances of tone that I never appreciated before. I found that Gonzalez 2 3/4 strength reeds for me corresponds to V12 #3 strength. (I'm using a B45 Lyre mouthpiece). I love 'em!!!

We know all about GBK's sterling credentials and peer praises, WJK, so, forget about him for the moment...
Where'd you buy the Gonzalez reeds? (internet store, local store, Sneezy sponsor???) We need to know where they're available if we're gonna give 'em a try.

:) :) :)

I am not associated with this company in any manner shape or form, nor have I tried their product. That being said,in answer to Rob b's question, a search indicates that they have a New York outlet (being an Argentine company) and produce something called FoF )For our Friends) in various strengths. Address: FREDERIC H WEINER 216 E. JERICHO TPKE MINEOLA, NY 11501 1-800-622-CORK E-MAIL
Hope this helps.
I am up to my hips in reeds at the present but would appreciate hearing more about them.

can anyone give an approximate or exact relationship of Gonzalez FoF reeds to that of Vandoren V12's? I play on Vandy V12 4's, or at least i did, and i'm wondering which Gonzalez FoF would i purchase to coincide with that Vandy V12 strength?

If you have questions about strength relationships, contact Davie Cane and see if they still have sample packs. I had to email the company itself and ask about it, but they sent me quite a few reeds in different strengths varying from 1 1/2 to 5. And the bonus was that they were free.
Good luck!

I emailed Davie Cane Customer Support and they said that "The FOF reeds are within 1/4 size of the V12's." Hope that helps.

Karel...I would suggest trying a few FOF reeds at exactly the same strength marking as the V-12, and also a few FOF reeds 1/4 strength harder.

Personally, I use(d) the V-12 3 1/2 and found the FOF 3 1/2 quite comfortable. Some of my colleagues who played a V-12 3 1/2 found the FOF 3 3/4 more suitable.

Probably best to try both options and see...GBK
