Check out his website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/musiclive/artists_bliss.shtml

Julian Bliss

Born in 1989 in St Albans England, Julian Bliss is a clarinettist with a phenomenal talent who performs way beyond his 12 years. Destined for an international solo career, Julian was recently awarded first prize in the Philadelphia-based Concerto Soloists Young Artists Competition performing Weber Clarinet Concerto No 2.

In May 2002, Julian will make his official London debut performing in two concerts at the Hampstead & Highgate Festival including a performance of Bartok Contrasts with Stephen Kovacevich and a recital at the Newbury Spring Festival.

He is a favourite of the Royal Family, performing several times at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and Covent Garden Opera House for HRH Prince Phillip and HRH Prince Charles and will perform at the Queen's Golden Jubilee Celebrations at Buckingham Palace on 1 June. He has appeared on National TV on numerous occasions and in March 2002 will appear in a three-part series for Channel 4 entitled 'Gifted'. The documentary will be entirely dedicated to Julian's life over one pivotal year at the launch of his career, when the Bliss family discover the price as well as the potential of this extraordinary talent.

Julian is currently studying for a Post-Graduate Artist Diploma at Indiana University, Bloomington under Professor Howard Klug.

BBC did a three-part TV series about him. It still repeats on British satellite TV but I don't know if it is available on tape.

Also he performed at the Queen's Golden Jubilee concert at Buck House on 1st June and I'm pretty sure there will be atape of that available. Try www.bbc.co.uk

I know that Julian was signed on by a a record label although the name escapes me right now. He does have his own CD out and although he is an amazing clarinetist is also an extraordinary little kid. How many of us at his age could move away from home for a few years, travel, tour, and still have time to act his age? Unbelievable...
